Present and oncoming climate change has got a negative impact upon Slovakia, Ukraine and Hungary and particularly on its marginalized regions. The negative effects of the climate change become evident already in the last decade of the past century and they become larger until today. It has and will have the direct effect upon the social and economical situation of the regions, cities and towns – above all in jeopardizing human lives and health, threats to properties and last but not least this effect will negatively influence access to the resources of vital concern.
Lack of awareness and knowledge and insufficient power and tools within local public authorities, as well as lack of public pressure result in inadequate response to the climate change impacts on the local level.
The project goal is: raise awareness, motivation and build capacity of the local governments for better public governance regarding the issue of climate change and introduction of climate change issues into the decision-making process and activities of the public administration. |
